Sheila Evans
Executive Director
Sheila Evans brings over 15 years of professional mediation experience, embodying a deep passion for resolving conflicts and fostering understanding. Describing her role as “leading conversations about the difficult and ugly,” Sheila thrives in guiding individuals and groups toward meaningful outcomes.
Throughout her career, Sheila has excelled in various professional roles, including Teen Court Coordinator for New Hanover and Pender Counties, District Court Mediator, and facilitator for Child and Family Team Meetings with the Department of Social Services.
Additionally, she has served as a facilitator for the UNCW Community Relations Alliance, the Cooperative Parenting/CROSSROADS program, and Medicaid Appeal Mediations.
In 2020, Sheila co-founded the Coastal Community Mediation Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to initiating key programs such as the District Court Mediation Program and the CROSSROADS Parenting Program.
Certified by the NC Dispute Resolution Commission, Sheila is qualified to conduct both District Criminal Court and Superior Court Mediations. Her extensive expertise and commitment to peaceful resolutions make her a leader in the conflict resolution field.

Mackenzie Wetherill
Mediator
Mackenzie has dedicated several years to the field of conflict resolution, actively supporting local communities in New Hanover and Pender counties through her roles in District Court mediation, Child and Family Team meetings, and as the coordinator for Pender Teen Court.
With a deep understanding of mediation as an effective tool for overcoming challenges and barriers, Mackenzie empowers parties to navigate disputes and collaboratively establish mutually agreeable solutions. Her commitment as a volunteer reflects her passion for fostering communication and resolution.
Mackenzie holds certification from the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission, authorizing her to conduct mediations in District Criminal Court.

Don Arabian
Mediator
Don has been a resident of Wilmington for 15 years, with twelve of those years dedicated to mediating in District Criminal Court in New Hanover County.
Driven by a passion for helping individuals resolve disputes and move beyond conflicts, Don actively volunteers as a mediator. His ability to communicate fluently in Spanish further enhances his capacity to provide inclusive and effective mediation services.
Don is certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission to conduct mediations in District Criminal Court.
